SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Kane/Miller Book Publishers is a division of EDC Publishing, specializing in award-winning children's books from around the world. Our books bring the children of the world closer to each other, sharing stories and ideas, while exploring cultural differences and similarities.
Although we continue to look for books from other countries, we are now actively seeking works that convey cultures and communities within the US.
We are looking for picture book fiction and non-fiction on those subjects which may be defined as particularly American: sports such as baseball, historical events, American biographies, American folk tales, etc.
We are committed to expanding our early and middle-grade fiction list. We’re interested in great stories with engaging characters in all genres (mystery, fantasy, adventure, historical, etc.) and, as with picture books, especially those with particularly American subjects.
We like to think that a child reading a Kane Miller book will see parallels between his own life and what might be the unfamiliar setting and characters of the story. And that by seeing how a character who is somehow or in some way dissimilar - an “outsider”- finds a way to fit comfortably into a culture or community or situation while maintaining a healthy sense of self and self-dignity, she might be empowered to do the same.
